Members ask the front desk this question constantly: should I buy the 10-pack or just get the monthly membership? Studio owners face the same question from the other side when they decide which options to offer and how to price them so the two do not cannibalize each other. The honest answer depends on how often someone actually shows up, and on how many pack credits they use before the credits expire.

This calculator divides the pack price by the credits you will realistically use to get a true cost per class, divides the membership price by your monthly visits to get the membership cost per class, and works out the breakeven number of visits where both cost the same. It then tells you which option is cheaper at your attendance level and roughly how much you save each month. It only compares price. Perks like guest passes, priority booking or retail discounts are not part of the math.

How to use this tool

Enter the pack price, the number of credits it includes, and the share of those credits you realistically use before they expire.
Enter the monthly membership price and how many classes you actually attend in a typical month.
Read the cost per class for each option, the breakeven visits per month, and which option is cheaper at your attendance level.

What the math assumes

Pack cost per class is the pack price divided by the credits you will actually use, so unused credits that expire make the pack more expensive per class.
The membership is assumed to allow at least as many visits per month as you enter. If your membership caps visits, do not enter more than the cap.
Breakeven visits is the membership price divided by the pack cost per class. Below that number of visits the pack is cheaper; above it the membership is cheaper.
The monthly saving is rounded to the nearest dollar and assumes your attendance is the same every month. Sign-up fees, freezes, taxes and perks are not included.
Both options are compared on price only. Convenience, commitment and cancellation terms are real factors the calculator does not score.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the calculator ask what share of pack credits I actually use?

Because a pack is only a bargain if you finish it. If two credits out of ten expire unused, you paid the full price for eight classes, and the real cost per class goes up by a quarter. Being honest about that number is what makes the comparison fair.

Can a studio use this to price packs against memberships?

Yes. Set the pack and membership prices you are considering and try a few attendance levels. The breakeven visits figure shows where members will switch, which helps you avoid pricing a pack so low that it undercuts the membership for regulars.

What if my membership limits visits per month?

Enter a number of visits at or below the limit. The calculator assumes the membership covers every visit you enter, so going above a capped plan would understate its true cost.
